MediaCityUK is the biggest media development in Europe, and will be home to the BBC, ITV and a host of top flight businesses involved in the Creative and Digital Industries. As the BBC prepares to move its first tranche of programmes there in May, this new media “city” is designed around the needs of the media industry, and as such will have a major impact on the sector.
But, if you're a creative or digital business working in and around Kirklees & Calderdale, what exactly does the development mean for you?
'Poetry and the Pipes' is a brand new series of events that will explore just that - bringing you up to speed with the place, the people behind it, and the types of commissions that will emerge from this game-changing development.
The second session, 'Inside MediaCityUK' will include a tour of the Studios at MediaCityUK. Ahead of the tour you'll learn from a series of case-studies presentations by companies that have recently developed innovative cross-platform projects for the BBC. It'll give you an insight into the types of content that the BBC are looking to commission, an overview of the creative and digital networks in and around Manchester, and will conclude with a 'horizon scanning' presentation - looking at future trends in the digital media industry.
